Third Annual ReportDecember, 2009 Dear Members and Friends of WeCanRow-Boston, We are excited to announce our new partnership with the Boston University Women’s Crew! WeCanRow-Boston became an outreach program of Boston University in September 2009. As you might expect, this partnership presents us with innovative opportunities to bring our program to many more breast cancer survivors in the greater Boston area. We would like to thank Stacey Rippetoe, Head Women’s Rowing Coach at BU, for taking the initiative in forming this partnership. We'd also like to thank Mike Lynch, Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics, Drew Marrochello, Deputy Director of Athletics and Thomas Bohrer, Head Men’s Crew Coach at BU for their enthusiastic support of WeCanRow-Boston. Our members now have access to more equipment that is designed for women and we anticipate that our program will thrive as a result. WeCanRow-Boston would also like to thank Community Rowing for housing our program for the past 7 years. CRI’s support has been critical to the stability and growth of WCR-B. We look forward to a continuing relationship with CRI as we meet their rowers on the river. Please join us on Facebook and Twitter for pictures, video clips and up-to-date information about WeCanRow-Boston events. This Spring promises to be an exciting time as we launch programs for novice and experienced rowers from our new home at the BU DeWolfe Boathouse. Fundraising NewsSeptember 29, 2008 Dear Friends, Rowing on the Charles River with a team of breast cancer survivors is an amazing experience!
WCR-B is specifically designed to help breast cancer survivors develop healthy and strong bodies, become active participants in their own recovery, rediscover the joy of movement and contribute to a mutually empowering recovery team. The coaching team includes our Head Coach, Molly Jordan, MSW, and Lisa Cura, licensed physical therapist. WeCanRow-Boston fully subsidizes new members for the first six months of participation and has a sliding scale fee structure for members who are unable to pay dues. Because a breast cancer diagnosis has many physical, emotional and financial effects, we want to minimize the barriers to participation. New members are enrolled through direct contact with the Greater Boston medical community and by word of mouth. The program is committed to developing a diverse membership and to raising public awareness that breast cancer survivors can be physically active and strong. Donations will allow us to maximize community outreach and participation. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We would like to ask that you consider adding your support by making a tax-deductible donation to WeCanRow–Boston, a non-profit, 501c organization. Those of us who can, pay our own way, but for those emerging from treatment, and those who can’t afford to take part without help, your donation would make a wonderful experience possible.
Thank you for your support.
